Skid Road, Sexy Seamstress, Great Fire, Brick Rebuild, Shipping and Trading, Boeing...
Mixed Media on Piano
Depicts the lumber boom with logs tumbling down 'Skid Road' (currently known as Yesler Way), The Great Seattle Fire that destroyed the city made of wood, and bricks which were used primarily to rebuild it. The "Seamstresses" took to the Underground and the taxes they paid also helped with the rebuild. Ship building and trading became another boom that pulled Seattle out of the trenches after the Gold Rush died down (represented by the veins of gold portrayed on the pianos right leg...) Then Boeing built his first plane, blazing the trail for many new technologies and jobs that would bring great prosperity to the city.
